I wasn't saying that she ought to have adopted your way of thinking (since what works for most people doesn't necessarily work for everyone). I was trying to say that she ought to have been more accepting of your way of thinking as being right for you, even if that didn't work for her. Or at least she ought to have responded in a way that didn't seem to put you down for how you were responding to your pain.

And I'm sorry I didn't respond to the original intent of this post. I'll put that in another comment.
