Today started off as a good day. I did not feel as drained, and I even wanted to eat breakfast. I was hoping the cough and the problem with my ear had started to break, and it meant I could cancel the doctor's appointment for this morning. The cough returned with a vengeance as I sat in the doctor's office. I thought, given the number of other people in the office with a similar cough, that I'd merely caught something that was going around. (Although if this is what infections are like with any autoimmune disease, I'll pass on any more in the future.)  The doctor prescribed three medications and sent them off to the pharmacy.

That should have been the end of it.  I  went back home to get some lunch and then headed off to Sam's Club. When I got there, I found out that the only prescription they had filled was for the antibiotics.  They were calling my rheumatologist's office, of all places, to get the prescriptions clarified. (Calling the places Providence East and Providence South doesn't help much so their confusion is understandable.)  They couldn't get in touch with the office, and said they were likely on lunch. I told them I'd come back in a half-hour.

When I came back, they still could not get in touch with the office. I called them and asked what the problem was. My insurance company would still not pay for them, even though Claritin has had generic refills for a while.  For some reason, the pharmacy ran that and something called Bromfed as "allergy relief," which it seems Anthem HIP doesn't want to pay for. (Only one of these is available over the counter as far as I know, and substitutions were permissible.)  The Sam's Club pharmacists informs me that I can pay $4 for the loratadine. (She should know I quit.)

I called the number of the back of the Anthem card and they confirmed that  the provider needed to provide alternatives for these medications because they weren't covered under the plan.   I suppose, much like tooth extractions, bronchitis is something that is best treated with over-the-counter and home remedies.  Good grief do I hate the Healthy Indiana Plan sometimes.   The doctor's office is now trying to see if Mucinex and Zyrtec will fall under the company's good graces.

At least I have Mucinex at home.  Right now, it's probably just a good idea to get under the covers and rest a bit more.   Apparently my body was doing the right thing by trying to get me to sleep so much this time.
