Today has not been a day for me to be on my feet. Although I took some of the stronger painkillers I’ve been saving and spent the last few hours blissfully pain free, the leg in question still felt itchy and weak.   I did not use this time in an unproductive fashion, however. I managed to download Ubuntu 15, get the updates installed, install Java and get Minecraft 1.8.8 to run. Although it still does not run under Windows 10, the game runs more smoothly under Linux than it ever did under Windows.

Now, I was not sure what to make of the game.  If I understand it at all, it’s not like most MMOs where it’s all about killing monsters, getting loot, and going up in level. It’s more like Lego for adults.  I managed to figure  out how to craft a few limited items. The items included a crafting table, and oak door, and an acacia door.   I think I also attacked a squid and a zombie, although I’m not too sure about the types of monsters.

This marks a very odd occasion. I think this is the first time I have ever installed Linux so I could play a game. I don’t think I would ever utter that sentence, and I doubt I’ll utter it again in the near future. It may change if Google decides to release a desktop version of Android, but I do not see that happening in the new future.

Now, I just hope this brief flare passes, and I really have to pay more attention to pacing myself. Picking up some groceries today may have been necessary, but it probably wasn’t the best idea.  Perhaps I should find a way to get some ankle braces and see if they help on the worst days.
